Prayer for Reconciliation and Peace in the Holy Land

Liturgical Prayers for Paradox Concerns

God of justice and peace
We bring before you the Israeli and Palestinian people
in all their need, pain and fear.
Bring an end to humiliation and injustice, corruption and violence.
Prosper those who work for peace with justice.
May both people groups enjoy security and prosperity.
We ask this through your Son, the Prince of peace,
Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen

God our Father,
Your son was a refugee in Egypt
Look in compassion on all refugees in the Middle East.
Restore their dignity,
relieve their poverty
and grant them justice,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Lord God,
Prosper the efforts of the Palestinians to establish their own state,
Grant them success in controlling violence and preventing terrorism,
in removing the corruption which undermines their society, and
in fostering unity between factions for the sake of peace.
Cause the Israelis to facilitate the setting up of the Palestinian state
and give both the Israelis and the Palestinians courage to compromise where necessary,
while ensuring the security of the two states,
for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

God of revelation,
Enable Christians everywhere to understand more about the situation in the Holy Land.
Preserve us from prejudice and partisanship,
Give us compassion for both Palestinians and Israelis
Help us to commit ourselves prayerfully to promoting peace, justice and reconciliation,
for Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen.

Heavenly Father,
May your blessing and protection be upon all Christians in the Holy Land,
[especially Rachel Netanel and …………………………]
Grant them encouragement and perseverance.
Enable them to witness with sensitivity and courage.
Build your church and prepare it for the coming of the Prince of Peace,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
